How is the GAD-7 scored?
Each question is scored from 0 (not at all) to 3 (nearly every day); the 7 questions add up to a total between 0 and 21. Scores of 0-4 indicate minimal, 5-9 mild, 10-14 moderate and 15-21 severe anxiety. A score of 10 or above is the commonly used threshold at which a professional evaluation may be helpful.
Does this test give a diagnosis?
No. The GAD-7 is a screening tool; generalized anxiety disorder can only be diagnosed by a physician or clinical psychologist through a comprehensive evaluation.
